Many people are still confused as to why Missouri is still battling the issue of Embryonic Stem Cell
research.
In November 2006 Missouri passed an amendment under the pretence that it would ban human cloning. It
did not in fact do this. Within the amendment (which was not placed on the ballot language that went
before the voters of Missouri, but rather in the body of the bill) there was an entirely un-scientifically sound
definition of "human cloning."
This has confused many of the Missouri voters, angered several scientists who advocate the use of
embryonic stem cells, and sent a mixed-message to the general public as a whole.
Below, you will find a series of links from various groups. The leaders of the sites chosen reach beyond
party lines, moral/ethical views, and differ in scientific theories. Regardless of these differences, you will
see that modern medicine, modern science, modern-day religion and philosophy all illustrate that the ability
for life to prosper in humans, and human dignity are Divine, inherent or God-given rights.
All agree on where life begins. All in the field of science will recognize that 'beginning' to be when the
process of sperm meets with the ovum (woman's egg), triggering the genetic level of replication, leading to
cellular division. College textbooks as well as laboratory analyses confirm that this process is
microscopically identical with the process of fusing the nucleus of a somatic (body) donor cell with the
enucleated egg of the egg-donor female.
Clicking on the below sites will help the common layperson understand the above processes and
statements.
